Our Slocum glider finished a 4,500 mile, 7 month voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to Spain. This is the first trans-oceanic crossing of an autonomous underwater vehicle. The Slocum glider autonomously glides underwater with periodic surfacings to transmit collected measurements of ocean water salinity and temperature. This was no small feat considering that this trans-oceanic journey was considered science fiction back in 1989. The 7 month journey of our glider is proof of our commitment to excellence. This is just one of the many exciting products we provide from our Cape Cod facilities. Our broad product offerings include Webb Research’s gliders and profiling floats, Benthos’ acoustic modems and sidescan sonars, and TapTone’s package inspection equipment.

Mechanical Engineer
Teledyne Benthos / Teledyne Gavia / Teledyne Webb Research is seeking a mechanical engineer to join our growing development team which is responsible for the APEX Profiler, Slocum Glider, GAVIA AUV, and ROV product lines. This position will involve engineering support for existing products, customizing special platforms for new applications, and new vehicle development. The desired applicant will possess a strong background in mechanical design as well as a working knowledge of software and electrical disciplines.
Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Masters preferred
- SolidWorks experience and drafting training
- Structural analysis using Solidworks Simulation (FEA) and calculation
- Marine materials and manufacturing methods
- Electro-mechanical systems including DC motors, valves, pumps, etc.
- Hands-on prototype fabrication and testing
- Machine-shop practical experience
- Experience with oceanographic instruments and vehicles preferred
- U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder
- Able to obtain Security Clearance

Sales Applications Engineer
Teledyne TapTone is seeking a Sales Applications Engineer to join our team. This person will be responsible with managing client projects ensuring the accomplishment of customer objectives. In this role you will also collaborate with the Sales and Engineering Design teams to qualify the product application to meet the customer requirements.
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering (Electrical and/or Computer Science)
- 5 years Applications experience
- Excellent communicator, product trainer both verbally and written, with strong interpersonal skills in a customer sales environment
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office products
- Proposal writing as it relates to sales projects
- Must be able to travel 30%-35% of the time, international and domestic
Preferred:
- Experience in vision inspection systems in a production environment
- Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry in either the Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic, Beverage and Food segments
- Project scheduling with MS Project
