Topside Options

The ATM-891 topside modem and ATM-880 modem module serve as the surface components of the bi-directional acoustic communication system. These surface modems, configured with a remote dunking transducer, transmit commands/data to, and receive commands /data from, the subsea acoustic modem(s) located on a seafloor instrumentation package or AUV.

The ATM-891 is housed in a standard deck box that is ideal for boats, dockside applications, and other real time environments.  The unit operates with AC/DC power and includes a speaker, serial port, and transducer cable connector – all in a splash proof case.

The ATM-880 is housed in a NEMA enclosure and is ideal for buoy or remote deployment applications.  There is space for RF radio modem.  The unit operates with DC power and includes a serial port.

The Gateway Buoy is a small buoy with modem, batteries, and buoyancy housed in one unit.  It is ideal for deployment in protected waterways.  It features two-week battery power, and a 900 MHz RF radio–line-of-sight range of 10 miles.

Each surface unit has a choice of cables: 25m, 50m, 75m, 100m, or 200m with a transducer choice to go at the end of the cable: an AT-408 Omni Directional or

AT-421 Directional.  The topside solution would then transmit and receive data from a subsea unit in a typical application.
